About Makulin® Plus capsules

Makulin® Plus capsules are a food supplement with FloraGLO® lutein, ZeaoneTM zeaxanthin, zinc, copper, vitamins C and E, as well as DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids from Epax® concentrated fish oil.

 

Zinc and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) contribute to the maintenance of normal vision.

 

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of  DHA.

 

Copper, vitamin C and vitamin E contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

 

The package contains 30 capsules.

Proof of quality

FloraGLO® is a suspension with lutein extracted from marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta). Lutein is primarily found in the retina (especially in the yellow spot, macula lutea) and the lens of the eye.

 

FloraGLO® is the most studied brand of lutein in the world. It has superior absorption because it provides the same absorbable form of lutein found in vegetables and other foods.

 

FloraGLO® lutein was used in the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2).

 

 

ZeaoneTM contains zeaxanthin from natural sources. Zeaxanthin is an important carotenoid that is mainly found in corn, squashes, and yellow and orange peppers. It is an important component of the macular pigment in the retina.

 

 

EPAX® is a Norwegian brand of fish oil, which for 180 years produces fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids of excellent purity and quality. Fish oil is produced by molecular distillation according to the highest standards of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the Global Organization for EPA and DHA (GOED). Over the past three decades, EPAX® has become synonymous with concentrated omega-3 fatty acids with special DHA/EPA proportions.

 

Zinc and DHA

Zinc and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

 

DHA is a long-chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid.

 

It is especially present in the retina of the eye, where it is the most common of all fatty acids (it makes up 1/3 of all fatty acids in the retina).

 

The retina is the innermost layer of tissue lining the back of the eyeball. It contains visual cells, rods, and cones, the former of which aid in the sensation of light (allowing for low-light vision) and the latter in colour recognition. They are connected to nerve fibres that unite to form the optic nerve. The yellow spot or macula is the most sensitive part of the retina with a high density of nerve endings. It is responsible for the central vision acuity, and the focus of the observed object image falls onto it. The retina and especially the yellow spots are rich in the carotenoid pigments lutein and zeaxanthin, which give it a yellowish appearance after which it was named yellow spot.
