Zinc

Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Zinc is an essential mineral that can be found in almost every cell of the body. The amount of zinc in the body is estimated at about 2 g.

Foods rich in zinc include seafood (oysters, shellfish), meat (beef, turkey), brewer’s yeast, eggs, pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds, wheat germ and grains (especially rye), legumes (soybeans, beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils), walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, artichokes) and mushrooms.

Zinc is better absorbed from animal foods, but zinc absorption from plant-based foods should not be overlooked.

Although it is found in small amounts in the body, it has various functions. It plays a significant role in the processes of cell division and growth, puberty and reproduction, and also ensures the normal functioning of the immune system.
