Over the past three decades, EPAX® has become synonymous with concentrated omega-3 fatty acids with special DHA/EPA proportions.

Ginkgo

Ginkgo biloba is the oldest plant on Earth that does not exhibit botanical and taxonomic affinities with other living plant species. It is the only surviving species of the family Ginkgoaceae, class Ginkgoatae.

Native to China and Japan, its origins date back to 250-260 years ago. Today it is grown in almost all parts of the world. The longevity of ginkgo stems from its strong resistance to various climate and other changes as well as to all types of harmful environmental effects.

Among around 50 compounds isolated from ginkgo so far, two groups of substances are essential for its biological activity: flavonoids and terpene trilactones. The dominant flavonoid compounds consist of flavonoid glycosides such as quercetin, kaempferol and isorhamnetin. Terpene trilactones comprise ginkgolides and bilobalides, unique biological compounds found only in gingko.

Today’s pharmaceutical ginkgo products contain mainly extracts from leaves harvested in the autumn, when the concentration of active components is at its highest, and are standardized to 22-27% flavonoid glycosides and 6-7% terpenes (ginkgolides and bilobalides).

Ginkgo leaf extract helps to maintain normal blood circulation and memory.

DHA

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is a six-fold unsaturated fatty acid with 22 carbon atoms.

The main dietary sources of omega-3 fatty acids include oily fish (sardine, mackerel, tuna, anchovies) and cold-water fish (herring, salmon), algae, zooplankton and seafood as well as seeds and nuts.

The biggest challenge in creating products with omega-3 fatty acids today is to obtain the purest, most concentrated, highly effective substance, which at the same time has no fishy smell or taste.

DHA contributes to maintenance of normal brain function.

Beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA.
