Vitamin C is a strong reducing agent and plays an important role in most oxidation-reduction processes in the body, as it is involved in more than 300 biological processes. Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is not synthesized in the human body, but, just like other water-soluble vitamins, it is significantly excreted from the body, so its intake from dietary sources is necessary.
Fresh and green foods contain considerable amounts of ascorbic acid. Well-known sources of vitamin C include acerola, pomegranate, blackcurrant, cherry, lemon, orange, mandarin, leafy vegetables, cabbage, tomato, potato, green and black pepper and young evergreen tree needles.
The amount of vitamin C in foods varies greatly, and depending on the method of cooking, up to 75% of the vitamin C can be lost in the process.
Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.and to normal function of the immune system.
